Happy Monday, finny friends! Last week we finally revealed the date of the 2nd Annual Promenade of Mermaids as August 27, 2016, and gave you some ideas about different ways to style your mermaid tails. This week I would like to take it a step further and show you some REAL. LIVE. MERMAIDS! (and mermen!)
The art of being a mermaid (mermaid-ing?) is very real, and there are beautiful and talented performers worldwide who dedicate their lives to mastering the intricacies of swimming, performing tricks, style, and yes folks- custom tails. I’d like to introduce you to a few incredible performers I’ve discovered, and hopefully their expertise inspires you on your mermaid costume journey.
Probably the number one search result for live mermaid performances belongs to the Weeki Wachee City of Live Mermaids in Florida.
“Set on 538-acres and home to the deepest naturally-formed spring in North America, this state park is best known for its live Mermaid Shows, where “half-fish, half-human” performers swim and dance in an underwater theater built 20 feet below the spring’s surface.” –Atlas Obscura
Here’s a peek at some highlights from Weeki Wachee:
